In wastewater treatment technology, oxygen is necessary
for the respiration of the microorganisms that convert
organic wastes into harmless carbon dioxide and
water. Oxygen enhanced sludge incineration results
in increased throughput with fewer emissions.
The applications of ozone are numerous and varied.
It can be used as a bleaching agent and disinfectant
for industrial, municipal and manufacturing applications.
Specific industries include pulp and paper, textiles,
clays, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, industrial
wastewater treatment, and municipal drinking water
systems.
The largest carbon dioxide water treatment application
is the treatment of industrial effluents and municipal
drinking water. When carbon dioxide dissolves in
water, it forms carbonic acid which lowers the pH
of the water.
Specialty gases and equipment offer a broad range
of pure gases and gas mixtures used for process
control, laboratory analysis and emissions monitoring.
