Smith Welding Supplies received a quality award
from the Mississippi Quality Awards program, presented
for achievements in applying the principles of continuous
improvement and world-class practices to enhance
customer satisfaction. Nordan Smith is one of thirteen
organizations from throughout the state honored
as 2000 award recipients.
The Quality Interest award was presented to Nordan
Smith Welding Supplies at the Mississippi Quality
Awards ceremony, which was held at the Clarion Hotel,
Jackson, MS on April 6, 2001.
The award program's four levels serve as steps to
guide organizations already involved in continuous
improvement programs in assessing their capabilities
and achievements in the quality arena. All award
criteria is based on the Baldrige National Quality
Award.
The Mississippi Quality Award program was created
through the Mississippi Workforce Education Act
of 1994 to encourage business and industry to commit
to the pursuit of excellence and reach for the competitive
edge that will assure major growth. The program
is administered through the Mississippi State Board
for Community and Junior Colleges.
