fuel cell technology to convert hydrogen
and oxygen into electricity |
Nordan Smith has been selected as hydrogen supplier
for Ballard Power Systems' new AirGen™ generator.
A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that
combines hydrogen (fuel) and oxygen (from the
air) to produce electricity, pure water and heat.
The AirGen fuel cell generator, now available
to industrial customers directly from Ballard,
a world leader in proton exchange membrane (PEM)
fuel cell technology, can be used as an indoor
power source, generating up to 1,000 watts of
continuous alternating current (AC) power, or
as an emergency backup power system, keeping mission-critical
computer and phone systems operating during power
outages. The primary component of the AirGen fuel
cell generator is Ballard's Nexa™ power module.
With no moving parts and no carbon monoxide emissions,
the PEM fuel cells offer clean, quiet and efficient
combustion. For this application Nordan Smith
will provide the hydrogen in high-pressure cylinders.
